Personality

Who you’re working with.

It helps to know who you’re working with. I’ve taken four assessments over the past year. They use different methods and mostly agree with each other, which is why I trust the overall picture more than any single result. Here’s what they say and what it means in practice.

Big Five (IPIP-NEO-300)

The anchor

This is the one with the most scientific backing, so I treat it as the anchor for the others.

  • Conscientiousness72%
  • Openness68%
  • Agreeableness65%
  • Extraversion54%
  • Neuroticism20%

My highest single trait is Intellect, at 85%. In practice, I follow through on what I commit to, I stay steady when plans change, and I’d rather go deep on one idea than skim ten. My Extraversion score is average because two things cancel out: I’m warm and cheerful with people, but large crowds don’t energize me.

CliftonStrengths

Intellection, Connectedness, Arranger, Responsibility, Relator

In practice, I think things through before I speak, I like connecting people and ideas that don’t normally meet, and I enjoy rearranging people and resources into a setup that works. I take ownership of my commitments, and I’d rather have a few close working relationships than a wide network.

MBTI (16Personalities)

INFJ-A, “Advocate”

My Intuitive and Feeling scores sit close to the midline (54% and 52%), so I wouldn’t lean on the label too hard. The clearer signals are Introverted (66%) and Assertive (74%), meaning calm and confident under pressure.

Enneagram

Most likely Type 5

Types 1 and 9 scored almost as high (8.5, 8.2 and 7.7), so I’d call it unsettled. What the 5 and 1 share with the other tests is a drive to understand things well and hold myself to a high standard.

Working with me

Give me the “why” and I’ll take real ownership. Send questions or an agenda ahead of time, because I think best before the meeting rather than during it. I can over-commit when I care about something, so tell me if I’m taking on too much. I welcome direct disagreement.
